Ropo’s Sustainability Report 2024 Published

Ropo’s Sustainability Report 2024 is now available, providing an overview of our latest actions, achievements, and future commitments in advancing responsible service delivery, a healthy payment culture, climate-friendly invoice management, and an inspiring working environment.

Over the past year, we have refined our sustainability strategy and enhanced our reporting practices to ensure we continue to drive meaningful impact for our clients, their customers, our employees, and society. We have also prepared for full alignment with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

At Ropo, sustainability forms an integral part of the group’s strategy and values. The 2024 report focuses on three key areas of our sustainability strategy:

  • Business ethics & responsible service delivery
  • People & inspiring working environment
  • Climate-friendly invoice lifecycle

Through these focus areas, we present our key metrics, initiatives, and future targets, supporting our ongoing sustainability journey and long-term ambition for positive impact.

“This report marks the first step toward a CSRD-compliant sustainability report, incorporating selected elements of the ESRS. We extend our sincere thanks to all stakeholders who participated in our first double materiality assessment through stakeholder surveys,” said Jenni Jantunen, Ropo’s Chief Brand and Communications Officer. “We hope the renewed report meets your expectations and provides both engaging and detailed insights into Ropo’s sustainability efforts.”

Sustainability Highlights 2024

  • Zero incidents across all zero-tolerance categories: No cases of discrimination, whistleblower reports, major information security breaches, corruption, or compromises on integrity and compliance.
  • Double materiality assessment (DMA) completed: Reassessed our sustainability focus and strategy with a comprehensive impact and risk assessment across our value chain and operations, identifying positive, negative, and financial impacts.
  • Renewed and expanded certifications: Our group-wide certifications now cover ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management), and ISAE 3402 Type II (Assurance Engagement).
  • Enhanced MyRopo for improved invoice and payment handling: Introduced updates to improve user experience, accessibility, and information security through a new authentication-required Message Center.
  • Exceeded uptime guarantee: No unplanned service breaks affecting service availability in Ropo One™ and MyRopo.
  • Fair compensation and gender equity disclosure expanded: Gender pay gap reporting introduced for the first time.
  • Support for diverse gender identities implemented: Employee platforms and company records now support broader gender identity options.
  • Increased digital invoice rate: Together with our clients, we increased the digitalization rate to 74%, reducing invoice-related emissions. In Finland, the rate grew from 67% to 72%; in Sweden, from 64% to 82%; and in Norway, from 82% to 93%.
  • New environmental policy launched: This includes the introduction of a decarbonization plan as part of our updated environmental commitments.
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions: Total emissions decreased from 9,220.8 tonnes CO₂e to 8,822.5 tonnes CO₂e.

Ropo has been reporting on sustainability based on GRI standards since 2021. In 2024, we launched and completed several initiatives to strengthen our sustainability work and prepare for expanded reporting requirements under the CSRD, which will apply to Ropo starting in 2027. Our focus remains on meeting stakeholder expectations and ensuring compliance with upcoming EU legislation.
