Our Growth Journey
Ropo started as a small startup with a vision to make invoice management easier. Since then, we’ve dedicated our work to streamlining our clients’ invoicing workflows and eliminating unnecessary complexities for smoother business flow.
Here are some key milestones on our journey to becoming market leaders.
2008
Ropo’s story began in Kuopio, Finland, when our founders Petri Tukiainen and Tuomo Rissanen combined their strengths. They envisioned that invoice management could be much easier if you automate certain tasks and manage everything with an easy-to-use software. Tuomo started coding and Petri searching for potential clients.
2009
Our one-platform approach took its first steps with the launch of the original version of Ropo One. Back then, it was called TrustPoint, and it felt modern and fresh. A digital platform for invoice and receivables management was a major change in the Finnish market, and the automated process required reassurance. However, clients quickly recognized its potential.
2011
Our current Chief Commercial Officer, Sami Levy, joined the startup, working alongside Petri to build strong client relationships and bringing valuable feedback to the development team. As the client base grew, Tuomo’s tech team needed reinforcements, leading to the arrival of Ilkka Sammelvuo – our current CEO.
This period marked the beginning of Ropo’s commitment to closely listening to clients’ needs and driving continuous development towards invoice lifecycle management.
2013
Strong groundwork in smaller client segments paid off, and Ropo broke into the big leagues with a major win: East Savo Hospital District became our first full invoice lifecycle client, with the service now known as the Ropo One Embed. And they’ve been with us ever since. They’ve stated that they understood their value and pioneering role but believed in our vision – and in our need to ensure their satisfaction in order to grow.
This client-first service mindset remains our guiding principle: long-term success is only possible when our clients are satisfied.
2016
Our rapid growth attracted private equity investors, leading to a profitable exit for our founders. Sentica Partners became Ropo’s main owner, and Artti Aurasmaa took over as CEO. It was also during this time that Ropo’s core values were formally documented. While the wording has since been refined from Finnish to English, those original values still serve as the foundation of our culture.
2017
On February 16, we rebranded from Trust Kapital to Ropo Capital. The name change coincided with our first acquisition in history: we acquired Enfo Zender, a long-established information logistics business owned by Enfo. This move grew Ropo’s revenue from €10M to €40M, making us an invoice operator and enabling us to manage the entire value chain, including multichannel invoice delivery. Prior to the acquisition, we clarified our focus and sold our accounting business. The rebrand unified all remaining employees under one name.
2019
Adelis Equity Partners acquired a majority stake from Sentica Partners, and we set our sights on Nordic expansion. The acquisition brought no changes to management – everyone remained committed to championing the one-platform approach and setting a new standard across the Nordic region. The goal was clear: next stop, Sweden.
That same year, Ropo acquired Colligent Inkasso from the Swedish banking group Collector.

2020
Ropo expanded into Norway with a strategic acquisition: Posti Messaging Scandinavia in Sweden and Norway became part of Ropo Group. Artti Aurasmaa joined the board of directors, and Rickard Westlund became Ropo’s CEO.
The Ropo One platform, then called Ropo 24, was launched in Sweden.
2021
We signed our first full invoice lifecycle clients in Sweden and our service concept – unified invoice delivery, sales ledger, and receivables management – proved its value across the Nordic market.
The same year, BAHS Kapital joined Ropo Group through an acquisition in Norway.
2022
Ropo One was launched in Norway under the name Ropo 24, and we signed the first full invoice lifecycle clients in the country. We also strengthened our market presence by acquiring Demand Norge.
The energy sector remained the flagship industry for adopting the one platform approach, with other high-invoice-volume companies following their lead.
2023
Ropo focused on improving business intelligence tools and prepared to launch Ropo OneView, designed for smart cash flow forecasting and credit risk management. Our AI-powered forecasting took a major leap forward.
Ilkka Sammelvuo, our long-time tech leader, was appointed CEO.
2024
Growth ambition realized with expansion into Denmark; we signed our first four-country agreement with DB Schenker. Annual user sessions in Ropo One exceeded 1 million. We also refreshed our brand, dropping Capital and reintroducing ourselves simply as Ropo.
While our brand and visual identity evolved, one thing remained unchanged: our commitment to the one-platform approach, providing 360° financial oversight and enhanced control for the office of the CFO. Delivering the best service for end-to-end invoice workflow management remains our ultimate goal.
