Behind the Payment Flow with Frode: From Millions of Transactions to Strategic Development of the Ropo Solution

Culture and Talent Highlight

In this series, we highlight the individuals who make our business unique. Here, you will get to know the employees behind the successes – their journeys, talents, and how they contribute to shaping our culture. Through their stories, we gain insight into how individual strengths collaborate to create a dynamic and forward-thinking work environment.

Millions of payments pass through Ropo’s platform every year. In Bergen, Frode Buvik works with the team responsible for ensuring that each transaction is handled correctly and that clients receive their settlements quickly and accurately. At the same time, he contributes to the further development of the technology that will handle even larger volumes in the years to come.

At Danmarks plass in Bergen, Frode Buvik works alongside a small group from Ropo’s Payment Transaction team. The team specializes in accounts receivable administration and ensures that millions of payments to Ropo’s clients’ accounts are processed correctly. When a payment is received, it is Frode and the team who make sure the funds are quickly forwarded to the clients.

“We handle the entire process from when Ropo receives a payment, through any necessary checks, until the settlement is transferred to the client. In addition, we respond to inquiries from both clients and end customers, and follow up with banks or internal resources if anything needs clarification,” says Frode.

“Precision in the payment flow is absolutely crucial to the trust our clients place in us,” he adds.

Alongside his daily operational responsibilities, Frode also plays an important role beyond day-to-day operations. In recent years, he has become increasingly involved in development projects related to Ropo’s internal operations, particularly the further development of the company’s proprietary invoicing platform, Ropo One, and the implementation of new functionality.

Frode also has a key responsibility for migrating cases and clients from legacy systems to Ropo One. Migration requires thoroughness to ensure a seamless transition for both Ropo and its clients.

Frode’s career at Ropo began in 2013, when he joined the debt collection company Demand Norge. Ropo entered the Norwegian market in 2021 and 2022 through the acquisition of Demand, BAHS Kapital, and Posti Messaging, with the three companies being merged into a single organization with a focus on the entire invoice lifecycle.

After 13 years of working closely with colleagues at the Bergen office, workplace culture has become a key source of motivation.

“What makes the difference is the strong team spirit and the great working environment – it genuinely makes me look forward to coming to work every day. The culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing is strong across Ropo in the Nordics, and here in Bergen many of us have worked together for years, so we know each other really well. New colleagues have also settled in seamlessly and become a natural part of the team,” he says.

Outside of work, Frode spends much of his time with family and staying active. He coaches his son’s football team, enjoys skiing in winter, and hiking in the mountain areas around Os and Bergen during the rest of the year.

Looking ahead to 2030, Ropo in Norway is aiming for an annual invoice volume of 26 million invoices processed through the Ropo One platform. For Frode, the growth outlook for both Norway and the Nordic organization is a key motivator, driving further efficiency improvements, platform development, and close collaboration across professional disciplines.

“The fact that we are at the beginning of what promises to be an exciting growth journey is both inspiring and energizing. We have industry-leading technology, a forward-looking and innovative culture, and strong expertise throughout the company. The foundations for success are clearly in place,” he says.
